Etsy Finds: Vintage Magazine Racks

My poor house is in constant disarray, as the Etsy inventory and half-made handmade mixed media works for my as-yet-unopened handmade shop are strewn all over the house. Lack of storage and my own disorganization had me feeling quite discombobulated, so I set a goal to get my office and the rest of the house in order in the next few weeks. As if it were meant to be, I happened upon three fantastic vintage pieces for my office that are stylish and functional. Pics of the other two pieces - fantastic 50's cabinets - will appear in later posts (pics of the finished office to follow when I'm finally happy with it). My first fab office item is this magazine rack. I'll use it for mags and file folders for my current renovation job(s) and Etsy receipts.

About Town

My most sincere apologies to everyone for neglecting my blog over the weekend! Friday included a crazy night of celebrating my lovely girl JoJo's birthday, then a bit of recovery time from the very late night, and I spent the remainder of the weekend hunting for lovely vintage stuff and out hiking about town and in the woods. Chattanooga is a very artsy and outdoorsy town, rich in public art installations, urban hiking and biking opportunities, and beautiful riverfront parks. This incredible sculpture at Renaissance Park mimics the shape of Lookout Mountain - famous for its Civil War history.

The mansion in the distance is part of Hunter Museum of Art - one of the best museums in the Southern U.S. The addition (not pictured) is a stunning piece of modern architecture.

Secret Cul de Sac

The serigraph below, "Secret Cul de Sac" goes on sale this morning at 10 a.m. at Shagmart. It is fantastic. Oh to live inside of this image, if only for a day. I want to tease my hair into a pretty coiffure circa 1960, don a lovely patio dress, and break out the croquet set. My town is nestled in the foothills of the Appalachians - very few yards in my area are flat enough to play croquet. (Not that I, my family, and friends haven't tried to play on many a hill - it makes for a challenging game!). An older item from Shagmart: the "My First Cocktail" lunchbox. Too funny! As 11 year olds, my friend Shannon and I drank an entire bottle of grape Juicy Juice and thought we were drunk. I still to this day wonder if that juice had fermented. We were crazy-silly that night.

Longing for the Beach

Instead of allowing myself to feel blue because I had to postpone my beach/wedding planning vacation for a couple of weeks, I've been browsing old photographs to keep me in that beach-y state of mind.
