Film Palette - The Life Aquatic

I finally saw Moonrise Kingdom a couple of weeks ago, and although I'm no stranger to the beauty of Wes Anderson films, I was still surprised and blown away by just how fantastic the scenery, sets, cinematography were. I wanted to live inside this movie - the wondrous world that Anderson and his talented team created. But then again, I feel that way every time I watch one of his films, which leads me to repost a link to the brilliant Wes Anderson Film Color Palette created by artist Beth Matthews

My personal palette leans toward A Life Aquatic

I need this poster to brighten up my office.

Or maybe this poster

I might have to buy this tee for Mr. Cheese.

On a different note, is anyone else experiencing Olympics hangover/withdrawal or is it just me?

Madmen!

My sister-in-law MadMen'ed us. Me:
Mr. Cheese (plaid jacket):
I can't wait for the season premiere of Mad Men on Sunday!

P.S. So sorry for the lack of posts this week. I'm reorganizing as my schedule has changed, and this week is a little crazy. I should be all settled in by next week. I'll catch up with everyone soon, I promise!

Wonder Woman!

Recent rumors of a Wonder Woman Movie have been circulating on the web, complete with the "who will play her?" blog posts proposing Megan Fox, Katie Holmes, Jessica Biel, or even Beyonce. Sorry, but in my mind no one can compare to Linda Carter.

Wonder Woman rocks. I had the underoos to prove what a hard-core fan I was. My cousin had the bathing suit. I was green with envy.
And I'm not so sure I like the new costume that was just unveiled in the 600th issue of the comic book, "modernized" so that today's comic book readers can better relate to her.
I much prefer the spangled hot pants...
Or the original skirt and red go-go boots...
The Cathode Ray Choob posted an awesome article about Wonder Woman here. After reading it, I felt so nostalgiac that I added Season 1 to my Netflix queue.

Mad Men Spotlight: Joan

In my twenties, I was definitely a Joan...
Love the hair (above), via drawonthewalls.wordpress.com. How could it be that I have never really taken notice of necklace Joan is always wearing (below), pic via blogs.amctv.com ? Just another reason to re-watch.
Admitedly, looking at this pic, I'm focused more on these fantastic chairs. Via courant.com.
I would just look frumpy in this blouse. It's beautiful on Joan, whose perfect bangs I also envy. Via oliveprincess.com.
One of my favorite Joan outfits, via clothesonfilm.com. I wish I had a better pic of this dress.
Joan checks for wrinkle, via guardian.co.uk. Note the kitchy seahorse wall hangings to her right.
Joan/Peggy power struggle (?) via bigdaddyseashell.wordpress.com.
On a rare occasion, we see Joan's hair down, via weblogs.variety.com. Great barkcloth drapes in the background.
Longer locks, via trappedintheattic.wordpress.com.
Thank you Joan for bringing back girl curves. Also, I now really want to be a redhead, however I don't think I could pull it off unless I had Joan's wardrobe. And confidence. If you haven't already seen them, check out Spotlight:Betty and Spotlight:Peggy.

Mad Men Spotlight: Peggy

Arguably the most interesting (though not necessarily my favorite, that would be like picking a favorite child) Mad Men character: Peggy. It has been so enjoyable to watch Peggy's character evolve over the past two seasons. Good girl? Perhaps...
My absolute favorite Peggy look (above), via tampabay.com. I would wear this dress, those pearls, this ponytail, anywhere and everywhere. I love the look that much. Peggy's office wardrobe vastly improved as she gained confidence and was recognized by "the boys" for her intelligence and creativity. The girlie wispy-banged secretary from early in the series (below), via guardian.co.uk.
I rather like Betty's church-going attire, and Father Gill seems to as well. Via blogs.amctv.com.
Very cute blouse and pencil skirt. I think this was a promotional photo, via courant.com.

We never really get to see Peggy look "hot" on Mad Men, so here is a photo of actress Elizabeth Moss looking smokin'! Via instantcast.com.

Florida Modern (Revisited) & Between Two Ferns

For your mid-century pleasure, here are a few more images from Central Florida Modern. If you missed my first post, click here for more modern eye candy.

No, I'm not a woman obsessed, but since so many of you are fans of Zack G and Bradley Cooper, you really should see the newest episode of "Between Two Ferns", Zack's really odd and dry-humored 'talk show' on Funny or Die. There is even a Carrot Top cameo. Warning, there is some foul language, so be careful where you watch it.

P.S. I just finished watching Man on Wire. The imagery of the Twin Towers is heart wrenching, but I highly recommend this documentary. Amazing!

The Hangover

I'm off to see Star Trek this gray Sunday afternoon, but I cannot wait to see The Hangover. <---click to check out the studio's fun website complete with previews and stills (my pics sourced from the Warner Bros. site). Sorry I couldn't embed a preview myself. The world will finally discover the wicked comic genius that is Zack Galifianakis. Opening day is June 5.
