An offer of explanation...

My old friends, I owe you an apology for my sudden disappearance and lengthy absence. Contrary to popular belief, I have not become a cave-dwelling hermit. I have visited your blogs from time to time, quietly peeking into your goings on without making mention of my presence. It has been a strange and sometimes difficult time, causing me to withdraw from public appearance on the interweb.  Care for a recap of my year?
Last year I moved into a very stressful position at my company. Thus began the formation of many new wrinkles, and after long days on the computer at work, caused the breaking point of my blogging and tweeting. I was laid off 6 months later, along with 39 coworkers. This began an ongoing period of self-employment and the so-far-futile search for a decent job.

Lots of tornadoes swept my area last year. An F1 came through our neighborhood. We were very lucky - no damage to our house, but we lost some trees and had a squirrel fatality.
We lost a dear family member and truly good man - at far too young an age. My Mom experienced a serious illness for almost a year (thankfully she is now recovering).

I was lucky to spend a lot of time with my side of the family during trips to Athens, Texas, Louisiana, and Hilton Head (Mr. Cheese was along for some of these trips). We spent time with Mr. Cheese's side of the family in Tennessee.

We took side trips to Savannah, Tybee Island, and Beaufort. I'm so in love with the Lowcountry and the friendly locals that the area holds a special place in my heart. We took one whirlwind trip to Jacksonville/Amelia Island to see friends and walk the beaches. I took another trip to JAX for fun and therapeutic chick-time with one of my oldest friends, who has since moved to Maryland.

We went to the cabin, and visited the world's largest treehouse.

Mr. Cheese and I have a new niece!
I started running and became addicted to it. Unfortunately a hip injury has suspended my runs for the past 6 weeks. I was just able to walk two miles for the first time this week, so it will be a long road back. Boo.

That's a summary of my journeys (both physical and emotional) over the past 15 months.  I will soon be resuming regular posts and will be catching up with what you Lovelies have been doing! I know that there are new addresses, new babies, new business ventures, and so much more. Here's hoping that life is good for all of you!

XO,
Marsi

November Stats

68 cheese-wrapped pills slipped to my pup Dodge
6 average hours of sleep per night (not enough)
31 parcels shipped
532 work emails sent/received (perhaps why I'm not on the computer as much at home?)
3 blog posts, including this one

I promise to return to more regular blogging this week. I miss it, and I miss you guys!

Slowly making my way back...

Hello my lovelies! My "short break" turned into two and a half weeks, and I thank you all so much for sticking around while I was gone. I do have good reason for my unexpectedly long absence: some severe headaches forced a break from time on the computer (outside of the 40+ hours a week I spend staring at the screen due to work). I have also been dealing with some very sad news regarding family members who are seriously ill and tragic losses in my friends' lives that have caused me to be quite contemplative about life and love and how time is not limitless. I won't get into all of this, but will remind everyone to try to LIVE life with adventure, and no regrets.
On a brighter note, I did enjoy several weeks of good estate sales, and some good times with close friends and family. Laughter really is therapeutic. Why the picture of Paris? Because recent events have me thinking about places I absolutely must see one day - from remote backpacking trips within the States, to exciting cities all over the world.

It will probably take me a week or so to catch up with everyone, and I promise to be back with regular posting soon. Please know how much I appreciate all of you!

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes...

This WAS me.

This IS me.

We are going through some bittersweet changes right now. As much as we love renovating houses, we decided that it was time to return to the safe path and end our 5-year term of self-employment. We both accepted jobs at a pretty cool eCommerce company, temp to permanent type positions. It's great that we still get to work together, although my husband is considering a position with another company that would be long and odd hours (but worth it for the pay and benefits). I really miss working on the Etsy shop these past few days too, but we will continue to sell vintage goodies part time. We have a vintage obsession, after all...

Feeling Blue

Ever have one of those days that you were looking forward to, but it starts out just horribly, and it ruins your whole day (or possibly week)? Well, that's my morning. Ugh.
Hopefully hugs from my adorable little nephews will make it all better. Photo Source

Feeling on edge

I'm having a frustrating day, which includes total blogger's block. I keep re-reading these stairs and thinking "serenity now" and other inner peace mantra b.s., none of which is working. I think I'll chuck my "to do" list for the afternoon and go clean out my closet. Parting with some stuff will be cleansing. Perhaps pulling out the fall/winter clothes will put a smile on my face. Boots...sweaters...serenity now...feeling better already...

Happy Friday!

After a long week of climbing up and down ladders, I'm feeling like this:
Hooray for friday!
Does anyone have big weekend plans? I have to live through you because we will probably be catching up on chores and working on the Etsy shop. Oh, and we really must buckle down and work on our wedding registry. I know this should be fun, but we just can't seem to get started. Have a great weekend everyone!
