Some Favorite (Non-traditional) Holiday Displays

Boy, it's tough getting back into the swing of things after a long blogging break. I've far too many holiday post ideas and still not enough time to share them all. I'm totally going to make one of these tree hats next year. Via flickr contributor hastingsgraham. (The chick on the right looks a little Amy Winehouse-ish, no?)
Simple, neutral, I like it. And yes, I realize that this image is far more restrained than most of my holiday favorites. Via flickr contributor simplygrove.
Lobster trap tree in Brunswick, Maine. Via flickr contributor Guanatos_Gwyn.
A Doughnut tree?! This would not last long in my house. From Better Homes and Gardens Treasury of Christmas Ideas 1966, via flickr contributor Miss_Retro_Modern.
Lovely luminaries, via flickr contributor Hoodlam.
I think this could work as a spring decoration too. From Better Homes and Gardens Christmas Ideas 1971, via flickr contributor Miss_Retro_Modern.
A tree-shaped photo collage. Brilliant! Via flickr contributor illtakeyourpicture.
Crafty-person's tree, via Dwell.
I want to make these little animals too; perhaps a crafting session with my nephews is in order. Via flickr contributor Miss_Retro_Modern.
One of my favorite Christmas pictures ever: Charles Eames with his molded plywood chair-leg tree candelabra. Via Dwell.
And a big thank you to the fabric floozie (don't you just love that name?)! I was so surprised and absolutely delighted to receive an e-mail this morning about a gorgeous feature on my Etsy shop on the fabric floozie. Be sure to check out this cool blog, whose template rocks, by the way.

I had a great time with my family last week, and got to see (for the first time) a 2 hour video of 8mm's of my Dad's family from the late 1940's through 1972. It was so good, my heart hurt a little.

I wonder what my family would say if I showed up on Christmas wearing a hat like that!

Hello Stranger.:) I know, it's been forever and a day (however long that is) since I have been around blogging. How are you doing? How's business? I hope your holidays have been full of joy and laughter, and time spent with family and friends.

Me, I feel like my mind is as crazy as my life these days.:) I think I need to start yoga, everyone says that would help. I'm not so sure.:))

I'm really liking the donut tree. Good thing I don't have one in the house about right now.

Hope all is going super in your life, sweetie. xoxox

GAH! i have a friend you would love. one year she wrapped christmas tree lights around herself, and had a battery pack hidden in her coat pocket. she twinkled the day away at work. and another year she had two 6" or so sprigs of tree sticking out of her hair. kind of like reindeer antlers or something. :)
